David Warren

National Park Service
Colorado State Research Associate/ GIS Systems Administrator for National GIS Program
Washington D.C
David is the "data guy" on the NPMap team. He primarily focuses on database development, data services, and customer support. He works closely with NPMap's partners to develop and support spatial databases that are leveraged by NPMap. He moved to Colorado after receiving a B.S. in Meteorology at the University of South Alabama and joined the NPS team as a Research Associate at Colorado State University. He has been in this position for 8 years and now works out of his Washington D.C. office.

In addition to working with partners using NPMap, Mr. Warren also serves as the GIS Systems Administrator for the National GIS Program. This includes leading the implementation of the Federated Enterprise Mapping Program (FEMP). This program was a product of the Department of Interior IT Transformation effort of the consolidation of data centers throughout the service. FEMP allows Parks, Regions, and Programs within the NPS the ability to have hosted ArcGIS Server instances within the flagship data center of the NPS, the Denver Data Center. He also serves as the administrator of the ArcGIS Organization Account for the NPS and the NPS Internal GIS Portal. He loves learning new technology - especially as it pertains to open source software - but also has a passion for learning and leveraging existing technology from more traditional GIS software such as the Esri Software Stack.
